
Even as the market has been falling over the past few sessions, some small caps have attracted institutional buying. There has been some crazy selling but they were some stocks, which were picked up by some mutual funds or FIIs, even they were very small but these are the summary of some of those stocks.
Freshtrop Fruits- Soros fund which is a Mauritius registered fund, Quantum had picked up 1.5% stake in this company. Basically this company is engaged in exporting of fresh fruits in various parts of Eastern Europe and Middle East. This is a very small company with a market cap of nearly Rs 35 crore.
Polyplex Corporation, which is a polyester firm where ICICI Prudential mutual fund has picked nearly 1% stake in this company and if you see the market cap of this company,it is nearly Rs 150 crore. Other shareholders, which are very interested in this company, are Reliance Mutual fund, which controls nearly 5% stake, Enam, which controls nearly 3.5% stake. Ashish Dhawan, which we know as a venture capitalist, controls nearly 3.5% stake and also Bear Stearns, which controls nearly 1.5% in this company.
GV Films, which is engaged in the production and distribution of feature films in various languages where UBS Securities Asia has bought in nearly 1% stake in this company and also the market cap is nearly Rs 100 crore.
Rayban Sun, is a small company with a market cap of nearly Rs 200 crore which manufactures eyewear & vision care products. Birla Sunlife Mutual fund has picked nearly Rs 3 lakh shares in this company, so even there are very small deals which are happening which are reported on the indexes but there were some cherry picking which were done by mutual funds and FIIs.
